“Welcome to Chicago” Commemorative Button & Poster Design Competition for Chicago-area High School Students

Chicago is hosting the 2024 Democratic National Convention this August. The Democratic National Convention Host Committee invites Chicago-area high school students to submit an original artwork inspired by the prompt – “Welcome to Chicago.”

All artworks submitted to the competition will be reviewed by a panel of judges. One piece of artwork will be selected as the winner and used on commemorative buttons and/or posters that will be distributed and/or sold to the public by the Host Committee. The awarded student will receive a $200 gift certificate and two (2) credentials for one day of the convention (running August 19-22nd). Runner-up finalists will have their artwork featured digitally at official convention venues and a $100 Visa gift card.

Students are encouraged to consider the following questions when submitting their artwork:

What or who makes Chicago unique?
How would you capture the essence of Chicago? Certain colors, smells, tastes, places?
How do you see yourself in the city?

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER: All Chicago-area high school students (Graduating seniors are eligible to apply.)

ENTRY DEADLINE: Monday, June 10th @ 5:00 PM CT
