Chicago Federation of Labor Statement In Response to Questions Concerning Communications by the City of Chicago Regarding a Vaccination Mandate

CHICAGO – Chicago Federation of Labor President Bob Reiter released the following statement in response to questions concerning communications by the city of Chicago regarding a vaccination mandate

“Many unions under the Chicago Federation of Labor umbrella continue to negotiate a proposed vaccination and testing policy with the city of Chicago that will best protect workers and residents. Though the city has not yet presented a comprehensive policy to its workforce, we understand that communications have been sent to that same workforce that provide indicators, albeit inconsistent, of what a full policy could detail. We want to be clear that our coalition has not agreed to any policy with the city of Chicago. Furthermore, if the city plans to share details with its workforce of a yet-to-be-announced policy, we encourage them to be consistent in their communications so as not to confuse, frustrate or provide additional anxiety to a workforce that has been sacrificing their health and safety for the past 18 months.”
