A Thought for the New Year!

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Over the last several months I have posted several pieces on what Union and more specifically this Union, LiUNA Local 1001, means to me, a 40-year member.

2018 has been, to say the least, a roller coaster year for organized labor and especially public employee unions like ours.

I have personally spoken to hundreds of you and hopefully have touched more than that with my postings. I make no secret or have no regrets for my thoughts and dedication to this organization and to each and every one of you.

The conversations and comments you have shared with me have been informative, educational and motivational for me personally and professionally.

I assure you that I hear your voice and although we may not always agree, your views and ideas are appreciated and considered by me in looking for ways to make our Union stronger and to prepare for and to survive whatever may come our way.

I have had members tell me that they may not always like me but they understand and respect what I have always tried to do for this Union and its membership. And honestly, I take that as a compliment.

We will have our challenges in 2019, a new Mayor, a new City Council, but with your support and dedication I am confident we will be able to take on all of the challenges that face us.

As I have told many of you “this is not my first rodeo”, when the dust settles it is and always has been my goal to ensure this organization’s members are in the best possible position they can be in.

None of us can do this alone and none of us is more important than the other but together we can and we have made this organization stronger in 2018, and I know with your help and support we will continue to do so in 2019.

It’s not always easy and it’s not always pretty but I promise each and every one of you that I will do my best for you as long as I have the privilege of representing you.

So to all, have a safe and Happy New Year!

Bob Chianelli – a proud member of LiUNA Local 1001
