On behalf of General Secretary-Treasurer Armand E. Sabitoni and the entire LIUNA General Executive Board, I want to wish you, and every member of the LIUNA family, the best of Holiday Seasons and a Happy New Year.

As we close out 2015, we can look back proudly on some significant accomplishments.  Our great International Union continued to grow, organizing new members in many sectors in which we work.  We made sure that both our friends and our foes felt the power of LIUNA, and saw the orange crush of LIUNA members, at a wide range of important rallies and events, supporting energy projects, endorsing political candidates, and protesting anti-worker legislation.  Many of you participated in these activities, spending precious free time helping your LIUNA brothers and sisters advance the interests of our union, working men and women, and the industries in which we work.  Thank you for your commitment and dedication.

The year ends with a spending bill that includes many provisions important to Laborers and their families, and, for the first time in years, a long overdue, long-term highway bill.  We strengthened our relationships with construction users in ways that led to more opportunities for Laborers and our signatory contractors.  Our brothers and sisters in the Indian Health Services won a landmark legal case, and our other public employee members valiantly fought off sustained attacks.  We proudly worked alongside our Mail Handler brothers and sisters as they battled ongoing attempts to cut and privatize the best postal service in the world.

LIUNA remains one of the most effective, powerful, and respected labor organizations in America today because of you, our members; our most valuable asset.  Whatever lies ahead in 2016, we can be certain that we have the power to meet every challenge and seize every opportunity that comes our way.  You are that power, and I am honored and humbled to be your General President.

Season’s Greetings and a Happy New Year!

I wish you and yours a safe, healthy, and prosperous 2016.

Fraternally Yours,

TERRY O’SULLIVAN

General President
